Research laboratory exploring the body, artwork, and landscape
From the Museo Castromediano to Il Campo dei Giganti

In the framework of the Patto di Collaborazione (Collaboration Pact) between the Polo Bibliomuseale di Lecce and the Associazione Culturale Il Campo dei Giganti.

Workshop curated by Ass. Ser Tessuto / Tessuto Corporeo® method in collaboration with Il Campo dei Giganti.

This call is addressed to performers, dancers, actors, visual artists, musicians, poets, and researchers who wish to engage in a shared research process on body and voice. The project aims to create one or more original site-specific performances to be presented during the summer season at Il Campo dei Giganti.

The laboratory, born within the Patto di Collaborazione (Collaboration Pact) between the Polo Bibliomuseale di Lecce and the Associazione Culturale Il Campo dei Giganti, will take place within the Pinacoteca and the spaces of the Museo Castromediano of Lecce. It is designed as a space for somatic practice and movement research in dialogue with the exhibited works.

Through listening practices, improvisation, and presence work, participants will explore the body as a sensitive instrument in relation to images, signs, and materials, activating embodied ways of perceiving and interpreting art.

The indoor work will serve as preparation for, and run parallel to, the outdoor work at Il Campo dei Giganti – a natural and human ecosystem, a large “living canvas” under the sky. Here, the research will expand, nourished by interaction with the landscape and the contemporary artworks that inhabit it.

The journey creates a parallelism between interior and exterior, museum and landscape, the body relating to a preserved work in an exhibition space, and the body encountering a work immersed in the environment. In both dimensions, movement becomes a practice of listening, translation, and co-creation between body, art, and place.

We are looking for individuals who wish to:

1.Develop their own artistic language

Through eco-somatic practices, vocal work, improvisation, and instant composition according to the Tessuto Corporeo® method with a mindful approach, looking at the body as a sensitive weave of relationships, memory, and landscape. The goal is not just to learn techniques, but to let a personal language emerge that dialogues with a connective tissue of relationships.

2.Share and evolve their research

We will work on weaving a true human ecosystem, a live electric current between:

– Participants;

– Trainers (acting as coaches for both individual and collective creation);

– The space of Il Campo dei Giganti;

– The sensitive and curious audience that inhabits the place.

Il Campo dei Giganti will not merely be a venue for the final performance, but an active interlocutor – a living landscape to listen to, resonate with, and engage in creative dialogue.

Core areas of focus:

– Somatic listening and organic continuity of movement;

– Modulation of presence and the quality of gesture;

– Embodied voice as a bodily vibration.

Contemporary dance practices and Butoh-inspired suggestions (slowness, transformation, relationship with imagery and the void).

Program Structure

The laboratory will be held in Lecce, at the Museo Castromediano, every Wednesday afternoon throughout April and May.

One Sunday per month, the group will meet for an intensive full-day workshop (including a community lunch) at Il Campo dei Giganti: a space immersed in the Salento landscape where nature, contemporary art installations, and performance practices coexist, generating a living network of artistic exchange. These intensive days are dedicated to a deeper immersion in the landscape and direct resonance with the site-specific works.

Il Campo dei corpi is a format co-designed by Ass. Ser Tessuto and Il Campo dei Giganti, 2nd Edition – 2026. The laboratory is conducted by Ass. Ser Tessuto.
